President Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressive Congress (APC) has on Friday explained why he joined politics
after he was released from prison.
In 1985 i was detained for over two years by then military president Ibrahim Babangida.
Speaking in Abuja, when he received some youth leaders of the party, Buhari said, I picked interest to be a politician
After I was found with no evidence by those who detained me for no reasons given.
Buhari claimed, 1985 he was thoroughly checked by military coup for his record as governor of the North East, Minister of Petroleum and Head of State he was found nothing incriminating.
“After all these investigations on me, I was pushed into partisan politics to serve with integrity, so I decided to try leadership as a civilian, after my retirement as a military man,’’ he added.
I know I am the only corrupt free President Nigeria has ever produced he said. In my remaining years in office I will try my best to make Nigeria a better place.
Our correspondent (Eric Patrick) learnt that President defeated his main opponent Atiku Abubakar in the last 2019 Presidential election to return to office for his second term.
Abubakar, A national youth leader urged President Buhari to get more youths involved in governance so as to learn from his “treasured wisdom.
