Inter Miami have announced the signing of Jordi Alba, who will reunite with former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets in Major League Soccer.
Alba has a one-season deal, but the club have the option to extend his contract for another year.
The Spanish defender may not be the last former Barcelona player to make a move. Miami are reportedly looking to bring Andres Iniesta to MLS.
Alba became a Barcelona legend, playing for the club from 2012 to 2023, winning La Liga and the Champions League six times. He also won EM His 2012 with the Spanish national team.
Sports director Chris Henderson said:
“Jordi is a seasoned, dynamic and experienced player who we are delighted to have recruited to further strengthen his team."
“He has proven over a decade that he is one of the best full-backs in the sport with his defensive steadfastness and ability to contribute in attack. We know he will help Inter Miami achieve the club's goals this season and beyond.”
