Nollywood Actor Jerry Williams Reportedly Entered Rehab For Drug Abuse

Nollywood actor, Jerry Williams who was recently suspended by the Actors' Guild has reportedly entered rehab for drug abuse.

According to NollyNow, an insider confirmed on Saturday, July 15th, that the actor was in rehab.

Sources revealed Jerry is undergoing intensive therapy at an undisclosed rehab center to help him concentrate on his health and recovery.

It was said that Jerry Williams’ colleagues had advised him to desist from drug abuse, but to no avail.

We can recall that the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) had announced Jerry William's indefinite suspension over his involvement with drugs.

According to the Guild, they had been monitoring the situation since December till it got out of hand.

The president said Jerry Williams should have been suspended much earlier, but the guild decided to grant him a light treatment that he believed he was missing.

The president further explained that the actor now poses a danger not only to himself but also to other actors who may act with him on set.

As a result, the board decided to suspend him indefinitely until he receives a definite medical certificate from a doctor.

The statement read in part;

“The Guild has been monitoring his involvement in illicit substances since December last year until it got out of hand, and as it is now, he cannot be allowed to associate with other performers on set due to danger."

"He ought to have been suspended before now. But we decided to allow him to go through minor treatments, which he has been defaulting overtimes. But as it stands now, Jerry is a risk not only to himself but also, to other actors who might be acting alongside him on set."

"We, therefore have decided to suspend him indefinitely until he gets a clean bill of health from a medical practitioner or a professional that handles drug abuse”.

Jerry Williams isn’t the only actor facing suspension.
