Qasem Soleimani, also spelled Qassem Suleimani or Qassim Soleimani, was an Iranian major general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and, from 1998 until his death.
He was a commander of its Quds Force, a division primarily responsible for extraterritorial military and clandestine operations.
Below are things you should know about Soleimani
1. According to President Donald Trump, Soleimani was responsible for the death of thousands of Iranian civilians and US citizens for the past 20 years.
2. Recently, Soleimani led the brutal repression of protesters in Iran where thousands of innocents civilians were tortured and killed by their own government.
3. Soleimani was killed by a US airstrike ordered by President Trump on 3rd January 2020 in Baghdad, Iraq.
