I'll never leave PDP - says Jimi Agbaje

    By  Eric  Patrick,

The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 9 election in Lagos State, Mr. Jimi Agbaje who lose to his main opponent Sanwo-Olu of the All progressive congress [ APC] has come out to debunk the rumor saying that he has dump PDP after his lose.

However Jimi has come out to make it clear that he remains a devoted member of the party and he is making no plans to leave the party.

Agbaje, said this in reaction to social media reports that he had dumped the Peoples democratic party [PDP]. He said the rumour was the handiwork of mischief-makers, trying to spread fake news. “determined to soil his reputation and provoke a crisis within the PDP and dampen the spirit of party members and his supporters.

“I have never discussed with anyone even have a conclave with anyone in respect of my plan to dump PDP, neither has such a prospect crossed my mind. There is no reason for it. It is uncalled for,” Agbaje said in a statement issued by Felix Oboagwina, his Director of Media and Publicity.

Agbaje vowed to remain in the PDP, despite the campaign of calumny being waged against him in the media by a few leaders.

“For a party that has twice accorded me the honour of running on its platform, I should be regarded as uncharitable to say I am abandoning PDP now,” Agbaje added.

He said although some PDP leaders in the state worked against him during the governorship election, nobody can force him out of the party.

“It is an open secret that a few party leaders took a position not to support my candidature after my victory in the party primary election. Their song was, ‘Vote Atiku in and forget Jimi Agbaje.

“Those party leaders who stood on the sidelines or worked against the party in the elections should not be fooled that the loss at the elections was as a result of their negative actions. They should not arrogate to themselves the powers they do not have. The elections were lost due to the intimidation of people which in turn led to voter apathy such that Lagos recorded the lowest percentage turnout in the country,” Agbaje said.
