Buhari doesn’t deserve second term, – ADC chairman

President buhari

The Ogun State Chairman of the African
Democratic Party, Dr Gbolade Osinowo, says President Muhammadu Buhari
does not deserve a second term in office, given the spate of killings
and economic hardship being experienced by Nigerians.

He said this on Friday in Abeokuta while
briefing journalists on the activities and programmes of the party
ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Osinowo, who was flanked by other
executive members of the party, said over 300 companies had shut down
their operations in Nigeria due to the harsh economic environment.

He added that farmers could no longer go
to their farms, as killer herdsmen were on the rampage and security was
non-existent as life had become ‘short and brutish.’.

He noted that it was like the country
was in a perpetual war currently and the government was not doing enough
to halt the ugly trend.

He said, “The President has performed his mandate woefully and I don’t believe he deserves to run for a second term in office.

“The All Progressives Congress has
already anointed him as the sole presidential candidate of the party for
2019. That means nobody will contest against him in the party.

“As far I am concerned, that is
impunity. Over 300 industries have shut down their operations since he
took over. The economy is still not recovering; farmers can no longer go
to their farms.

“There are unrestrained killings in the
land by killer herdsmen, security is non-existent. Government is not
doing enough to arrest this trend.

“When people go to bed, they are not
sure of waking up the next day, when they go out, they are not sure of
returning to their homes.”

Osinowo said the ADC, which is one of
the political parties in a grand alliance to unseat Buhari in 2019,
would ensure it placed governance over politics, and allot 30 per cent
position each to the youth and women.
