The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of a male suspect believed to be a member of the criminal gang responsible for the attack and murder of Duhu Nelson Sylvester Nnacheta, also known as "Ofunwa."
Nnacheta was the Councilor representing Eha-Ulo Ehalumona Council Ward.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 16, when unknown gunmen entered the deceased's home in Umualoji Village in the Ehalumona community of Nsukka LGA and fatally shot him.
Nnacheta sought refuge in his neighbor's house but succumbed to his injuries there.
The spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
The state Commissioner of Police has ordered an intensive and discreet investigation, as well as a manhunt for the assailants responsible for this heinous crime.
