Chelsea Reportedly Enter Race for Kylian Mbappe After PSG Put Him Up For Sale

The Kylian Mbappe saga took another stunning twist on Friday night after PSG omitted the Frnehc superstar from their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea and put him up for sale.

Chelsea are reportedly exploring a potential deal for the 24-year-old, who is locked in a contract stand-off against PSG's hierarchy.

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, the Blues are "studying the feasibility" of agreeing a deal with Mbappe this summer. Real Madrid have been strongly linked with the French forward, who has one year left on his deal and refused to sign an extension.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insisted that Mbappe either signs a new contract or leaves this summer for a fee. Mbappe has until July 31 to trigger the extension.

A move to Stamford Bridge will see Mbappe reunite with his former manager Mauricio Pochettino and play alongside some of his international teammates like Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and Christopher Nkunku, who recently signed for the Blues, per Football London.

Chelsea's lack of European football may make it harder for them to attract primary targets. Pulling off an ambitious deal for Mbappe would be difficult, especially given Madrid's interest.

Mbappe has insisted he wants to stay at the club but does not intend to sign a new deal. His current contract expires in the summer of 2024, meaning he will leave for free, a situation the club is desperate to avoid. PSG also wants players who are committed to the team ahead of the new season under new manager Luis Enrique.

Therefore, the Ligue 1 champions want to sell Mbappe this summer and get a fee that will be huge for a player of his caliber. PSG are reportedly looking for a figure upwards of 100 million euros. Madrid tried to sign him last summer, but Mbappe signed a new deal.
