#ENDSARS: No protest in Abuja – Police

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has debunked viral videos and pictures in circulation in social media suggesting that another ‘ENDSARS protest’ was staged in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, called on members of the public to disregard the videos and pictures which is mischievous and intended to cause tension amongst residents.

“While urging residents to remain calm, law-abiding and go about their legitimate endeavors peacefully, the Command wishes reiterate its unflinching commitment to the protection of lives and property within the FCT,” Mariam said.

Our correspondent, who visited various parts of Abuja did not notice any sign of protest.

Areas visited included Unity Fountain, Berger Roundabout, Area One Junction, Airport, among others.

Trucks of armed policemen working with other security agencies were however sighted patrolling major areas of Abuja.

It was gathered that a few persons staged a protest entrance of the National Assembly but this could not be verified.

A worker at the Federal Secretariat said he witnessed the protesters gather suddenly and mobilize to the entrance of the National Assembly after which they dispersed.
