MBS 2020: Food items donated to orphanage in Ondo

Our Reporter

In bid to put smile on the faces of the less privilege and vulnerable in the society, a journalist, Arogbonlo Israel has not only touched the lives of people within Ondo but also recorded a great feat in the book of history as not less than 50 orphans across the state have benefited from cash and food items distributed by the  philanthropist.

Distributing the items on Sunday, Mr Arogbonlo said the gesture to bring smiles to the young people and the needy started two years back.

"The essence of this donation is borne out of my passion for young people, especially those vulnerable in the society. I started an initiative MBS (My Birthday Splash) two years ago, 2018 to be precised. It's a programme designed to mark my birthday and in turn, impacting lives around.

"For me, birthday is not just a celebration of one's existence on earth but also an avenue to touch lives in our own little ways. This is what orchestrated the initiative, and it's my delight to say that God has really been helping me to make mark in the best way I can.

"Today, myself in courtesy of friends and well wishers are glad to support the management of Hope orphanage for the good work they are doing, raising and nurturing these kids (Hope orphanage) in the way of the Lord. It's my prayer they all become great and fulfil destiny in the nearest future.

"This gesture is just a token to make sure that the kids smile in this difficult time coupled with the ravaging COVID-19 of which we are hopeful it dies down as soon as possible. So, this year edition of MBS is premised on the theme: "A smile for one, a smile for all", targeting kids in Ondo. This is the maiden edition, and we just hope to put smiles on people's faces, and also benefit from what it means of being privilege," he said.

Describing the beneficiaries as the hope of any nation, Arogbonlo charged them to continuously live together in harmony and genuine love which symbolise the exemplary life of Christ.

The journalist noted that next edition of the programme promises to be more people-inclusive as he intend to reach many people as possible, adding that plans are underway to add scholarship to the initiative.

THEWATCH NEWS report that while receiving the donation,   the Manager of Hope orphanage, Mrs. Oladupo Abosede described the organisers as angels in human clothing.

"On behalf of the board of trustees of Hope orphanage, we really want to appreciate you for this donation. Your deeds is such a gesture we will never take for granted.

Reaching out to us in this difficult time means a lot to us. We pray God keep enriching everyone that contributed towards this donation," she said.

Items distributed by MBS include provisions, toiletries, groceries, detergents, among others.
