As at the time the cause of the explosion was unidentified, the impact was felt within festac town.
Many houses around 31road junction, 21rd, 23 road, and first avenue felt the great impact.
Many couldn't fathoms where the explosion could be coming from.
Narrating their ordeal to Vanguard, some of the worshippers who attended the 8:30am mass told THEWATCH NEWS that while the mass was going on, suddenly there was something like a bomb explosion that shook the church building and something fell from the top of the roof landing into the Church.
The eyewitness simply identified as Solomon said: ''We ran out of the church when we heard the thunderbolt sound and almost immediately some sculptures fell from the roof leaving many to run out for safety. However, the officiating priest known as Father Panarchy was still standing at the pulpit as at the time the sculpture fell.
He encouraged the congregation to learn to trust God and remain calm in such situations.
Another eye witness simply identified as Ngozi told our reporter that she was on her way from 6:30am mass when the sound was heard and her car was shaken.
According to her, Wherever that explosion was coming from could have caused a lot of damages''.
The impact of the explosion also affected houses around Badagry.
When our correspondent ( Eric Patrick) contacted a resident at Badagry, he said his church's roof was left dangling.
Kenechukw described the explosion as a great earthquake.
He said: We were having a youth meeting in my church,St lucy Ibiye after Agbara, when we felt the explosion which left the roof of the church dangling.
We all ran for safety but for some women on high heels, some of them fell.
