Things to know about Operation Amotekun

Operation Amotekun is an initiative of the governors in the South-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
Our correspondent (Eric Patrick) has gathered that the Federal government is yet to approve the Operation Amotekum but thousands of Nigerians have kicked against the initiative adding that it will only cause more harm than good to the people.

After bringing in SARZ now the initiative of Amotekun is here again. Everyone knows SARZ how they intimidate Nigerian Youths, Rob and accused them of no crime committed just to collect bribe. The fear of Nigerians is, what if the Amotekun initiative is legal won't they be worst than SARZ and what experience do they have when it comes to securing lives and properties.?

According to multiple reports, the Nigeria Army, Police, Airforce and others have debunk the idea of Amotekun in the country, Eric Patrick can report.

Below are things you need to know about Amotekun.

1.It is an initiative of the governors in the South-west geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

2. The meaning of Amotekun in Yoruba is Leopard.

3. According to the governors, the initiative would complement the Police and other paramilitary organisations to fight crime.

4.The headquarters of Operation Amotekun will be located in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

5. Amotekun is made up of local hunters, members of vigilante groups, men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC).

6. Federal government has declared the Operation Amotekun as Illegal.
