Man 37-year-old rape own daughter, blames devil

A 37-year-old man, identified as Stephen, was on Wednesday remanded in Kirikiri prison for allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter.



Our correspondent (Eric Patrick) learnt that the defendant's plea was rejected as the Chief Magistrate, Mr Nwaka, ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice.



Stephen's case was adjourned until February 13, 2020.



Stephen, who resides at Alakuko, area of Lagos, is facing a count of rape.









The suspect in an interview told our correspondent (Eric Patrick) that he told his daughter to stay away from men and focus with her education but she kept disrespecting him.



Her mother, my ex-wife abandoned her with me when she was 10-year-old, and got married to someone else Stephen, claimed.



I love my daughter and I always wanted the best for her, if someone would tell me one day that I will rape my own daughter I will fight that person.



"I want my daughter to forgive me, it is the work of the devil," he said.









However, our correspondent (Eric Patrick) gathered that the defendant committed the offence on December 24, 2019, at his residence.



Stephen's daughter name (unknown) told (Eric Patrick) that her father has been sleeping with her since when she was 10 years.



"The defendant Stephen, was arrested,” after the case was reported to the Police.



The offence contravened Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
