2019: Buhari to open 9th National breakfast prayer

2019: Buhari to open 9th National breakfast prayer

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, Muhammad
Buhari the Nigerian President is expected to open this year’s National Breakfast Prayer to seek
God’s intervention for truth, passionate and good governance for
Nigeria.

The annual event is put together by
National Assembly Christian Legislators Fellowship, which is expected to
take place on Tuesday.

The group, made up of Christian
legislators from both chambers of the legislature, also noted that, this
year’s theme was borne out of the reflection on the different
challenges confronting the country and the need to seek the atmosphere
of grace for the leaders to function as the primary agents of
accomplishing God’s desire for Nigerians.

Spokesperson of the Fellowship, Tajudeen
Yusuf (PDP, Kogi), who addressed newsmen on behalf of the president,
Senator Barnabas Gemade (SDP, Benue), said the country would change if
the leaders will summit to God for grace and quality leadership.

“We must seize the atmosphere of grace
that was freely bestowed on us to function as primary agents of
accomplishing God’s desire to prosper His people and fulfil His purpose.

“What quality do we want most in our
leaders? God desires all who rule under him to be righteous and just.
Think how the world will change if the leaders would commit themselves
to good qualities.

“Moreover, how greatly God values
honesty! Without honesty, a relationship with God is impossible.

If we
lie to others, we will begin to deceive ourselves. God cannot hear us or
speak to us if we are building a wall of self-deception, therefore we
must pray to God to help our leaders rule the nation truthfully, justly
and wisely

“God cares for the needy, the afflicted
and the weak because they are precious to him. If God feels so strongly
about these needy ones and loves deeply, can we ignore their plight? We
must examine what we are doing to reach out with God’s love”, he said.
